My latest portrait series titled ‘Poster Boy’ is well under way. This series will explore contemporary masculinity and the role of the visual image, offering a critical voice on how we represent and reproduce visions of masculinity.
This project will draw upon the cultural legacy and visual language of advertising. Through a collaborative process each image/poster will explore personal narratives of men, seeking to re-inscribe the personal.
In each poster the subject will hold an object they have chosen to pose with, something that embodies a kind of masculinity prescribed within the social milieu of their teen years. The headline will be a statement supplied by each subject offering a first-hand account of how they felt about this object, what is says about mainstream masculinity and their personal relationship to it.
